In our country, liquid is synonymous with juice and is a liquid drink obtained by squeezing a fruit or vegetable. Confusion often arises with the word smoothie, as many Latin American countries use it to refer to juice or liquid.
The texture of the juice is very runny. We only drink the liquid part of the fruit or vegetable. In a juice we don't drink the crushed fiber, only the liquid. According to the extraction methodology, we find the following devices:
- The juicer that is suitable for extracting citrus juice.
- The extractor or blender used to extract juice from other vegetables and fruits.
There are two types:
- Extractor or blender by centrifugation: It is suitable for all kinds of fruits and vegetables. Not so efficient with leafy greens. The juice is extracted by centrifugation at high speed.
- Extractor or blender under cold pressure: It is suitable for all kinds of fruit and vegetables and highly recommended for leafy greens. The juice is cold pressed at very low speeds.
The juice preserves the nutrients and vitamins because it is not heated. The juice has a high percentage of water, is hydrating and refreshing, rich in minerals, vitamins and antioxidants. The juice has no pulp, since in the process of squeezing or liquefying the fruit and/or vegetable, all the fiber is separated. This action has the following benefits:
- The absence of fiber helps the rapid absorption of nutrients into the blood.
- Detoxification and regeneration of the body as there is no digestion.
- Higher level of mental clarity.
